Gyalpocalypse
Dungeon Master • Designer
In a challenge to gain interest of newcomers who hadn’t played a full D&D campaign before, and personalize the gameplay to meet their level of expertise, these assets and the playing style that was developed made it easy for players to keep track of the small details of the game, such as weapon durability, their own health, as well as create moments where they could feel unconstrained and free to improvise.
The story was given an unannounced tutorial at it’s beginning when the Dungeon Master, who to their confusion was also another character, turned out to be infected, and the odd arrangement of people that had collected together in this man’s apartment had to learn the rules quick in order to take him down, and avoid being infected.
From there, in order to give an easier path for players, each character had a point of origin, a place that they had to return to within the bounds of the city map that was created by hand.
If they were to return, they accumulate a perma-skill that greatly assists them throughout the game, the final goal being to make it to the center of the city where there’s word that National Guard will be evacuating people from rooftops given the right signal.
